We will make sure we identify, assess and support children’s needs both early in life and when issues arise.

Outcomes of SEND strategy priority 1: our early identification and support vision

Outcomes will be:

  • our early help and intervention support results in families being supported at first need with fewer needing an education, care and health (EHC) needs assessment
  • parent carers and young people know when SEN support is in place and are involved in creating and reviewing the SEN Support or EHC plan
  • parents and carers understand the graduated approach [link to page when complete] and professionals understand it when supporting families. Parents understand the system better and how to access support
  • a parent and carer friendly version of the graduated approach in Dorset is in place
  • an increased awareness of Early Help, intervention and inclusion across Dorset in all key professional roles
  • children, young people and their families are able to access immediate advice and support

There will be a consistent offer and range of services and interventions for emotional health and wellbeing, applying the iThrive Framework.
