Practice model

A Practice Framework can provide a systemic approach for ‘how to’ and ‘why’ when working with families, children and young people.

Practice models or frameworks can provide tools, knowledge and understanding for workers, acting as a foundation and framework in which individual workers can add their own individual skills, experience and personalities. 

Within Dorset our focus is on working within communities and with multi-agency input, responding to the individual needs of the communities we work with and approaching families in a restorative and strengths-based approach. This is an opportunity for us to create a  bespoke practice framework which is based in restorative practice and promotes strengths based approaches.

Building on the principles set out in the Dorset Children Thrive document, Children, Young People and Families Plan 2020 to 2023 and from within the Reinvigorating Social Work Programme, this Practice Framework will seek to guide and support all practitioners in the work we undertake with families and with partner agencies too.
