Householders are responsible for the lawful disposal of their waste, even after handing it to someone else. See our Tip-Off page for more information on fly-tipping and how you can keep yourself covered.

If you want to get rid of big household items like fridges, TVs, washing machines, sofas, beds and mattresses and can't take them to your local household recycling centre, you can book a bulky waste collection through Dorset Reclaim.

Depending on the quality of the items you are looking to have collected and whether they can be re-used, there may or may not be a charge.

Furniture reuse groups

As well as Dorset Reclaim, there is a range of furniture reuse groups across Dorset that collect unwanted furniture and household items.

Dorset Scrapstore

Dorset Scrapstore collects clean, non toxic, unwanted materials donated by industry, commerce and individuals, then makes these materials available to the community as a valuable low cost resource, for example, schools and community groups.
