Peripatetic Passenger Assistant, Dorset Travel

I was employed by Dorset Travel in November 2013 (at the age of 67) and have spent the last eight and a half years working with a significant number of DT contractors in all types of vehicles and delivering SEN passengers, including those in wheelchairs, to virtually all Dorset special schools (including Mountjoy, Wyvern, Westfield, Yewstock & Montacute – to name a few). I have had specialist training to work with passengers with epilepsy, diabetes and spinal muscular atrophy and am up to date with Health and Safety, First Aid and Safeguarding training.

My job role involves deputising for absent Passenger Assistants on a variety of Dorset Travel routes across the whole county of Dorset. I really enjoy the challenge of working with a diverse range of vulnerable young people with special education needs and the satisfaction of delivering them to their destination in a healthy and safe manner.
